Upon entering the town of Squamish, one is greeted by a sign declaring it the Outdoor Recreation Capital of Canada. Nestled in the mountains of the Sea to Sky corridor, the town sits midway between Vancouver and the winter restort destination of Whistler making it a perfect stop to enjoy the natural activities it has to offer. In the warmer months the town's population swells with climbers, mountain bikers and boaters. Within minutes of the downtown area one can find a multitude of bike trails, windsurfing and kiteboarding, whitewater rivers of all classes, hiking, camping, and of course the granite monolith of the Stawamus Chief. Although quieter in the winter, plenty of backcountry access makes it a great stop for ski-touring and snowshoeing.
