St. Louis was French and Spanish before it became American. Even before the European explorers traveled up the river, this area was home to the Mississippians, a mighty Indian civilization of mound builders. Downtown St. Louis is one of the most attractive places in the US. red brick, cobblestone streets, terra cotta friezes and stained glass. Combine that with a large number of bars, clubs and restaurants and you know you will need to spend a few days here. From the open-air market of the Soulard French district to the eclectic shops and cafes of the Central West End, St. Louis' vibrant culture is apparent all over the place. St. Louis also has its fair share of museums, galleries and sights. The Chirst Church Cathedral, the City Museum, the fully restored historic State Capitol and Forest park should all be on your list. But what to make of a dog museum, giant teeth or a hall of fame dedicated to bowling top? Come over and find out. If you want to roll the dice and think Vegas is fake, then St. Louis is the place to come to. The riverboats are excellent locations for a bit of first class gambling.
