This comment is so true! If folks know where MT. Rushmore is, what state that is, they are truly surprised to find all of the interesting activities and sights here. We live in the Black Hills, the most popular destination in South Dakota. The MT. Rushmore Memorial is soul stirring. When you drive in from the town of Keystone and see the heads the first time you can be awe struck. The other monument here is the largest sculpture in the world, The Crazy Horse Memorial, to see that just takes your legs out from under you! Hiking, bicycling, kayaking, fishing, National Parks, we have 5, State Parks, The Missouri River and all it has to offer, the bison, the burros, and the antelpoe play here too. Deadwood with all of its history, dinosaur grave sites, wild horses, Indian Reservations, hunting. I could list more but the list is much longer. Come catch the spirit of the Black Hills and South Dakota, the best kept secret in the lower 48.

South Dakota has much more to offer than most people think. Most of the people who get to see some of what it has to offer are traveling through the state on Interstate 90. I have been through South Dakota many times. Headed west through S. Dakota is Sioux Falls which is supposed to be one of the safest cities in the states. More westward in Chamberlain is a beautiful place also along the Missouri River, Nice rest area in this area to take a break and take a short hike to rest your legs. Southwest S. Dakota In The Black Hills, offers a lot for the tourist or the people and family's passing through the state. You may remember in history class the pictures of Mount Rushmore, but being there seeing it upclose is a whole different story.
