San Antonio, Texas is one of the four unique cities of the United States. A remarkable blending of cultures including Native Americans, German, Old Mexico, Spanish, the traditional Deep South, and a smattering of others make San Antonio unlike any other city. More than half the population identifies itself as of Hispanic heritage and the influence from Spain and Mexico still effects everyday life. Though officially the eighth largest city in the United States, San Antonio has a distinctly small-town flavor. If you live around here for any length of time, youll be likely to run into someone you know just about anywhere you go. The same holds true for visitors, who are certain to find a small-town friendliness throughout the city.
Sunshine is plentiful throughout the year. With temperatures in July ranging from a high of 35 C (95 F) to a low of 24 C (75 F), summers can be brutal. However, in January, the average ranges from a high of 16 C (61 F) to a low of 3 C (38 F). Freezes are light and snow is almost unheard of during the winter, a great thing if youre visiting from a snow-choked location.
