Welcome to Georgia, the Peach State! Georgia gets this nickname from one of its most famous crops. From the Blue Ridge Mountains in the North to the beautiful beaches along the Atlantic Coast; from the thriving, bustling metropolis of
Atlanta, to the relaxed, languid atmosphere of
Savannah and the smaller cities and towns, this state in the southeastern United States has something to offer everyone.
Atlanta (metropolitan population approx. 3.5 million), the largest city in the southeastern United States, has become a world class city and was host of the 1996 Summer Olympics. Atlantans have access to world class entertainment, including the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra (consistently ranked as one of the top American orchestras) and the Atlanta Opera, and the city boasts a vibrant nightlife and the busiest international airport in the world.
From the fouding of Georgia as Britain's thirteenth colony in 1733, to the tragedy of the American Civil War, to the Civil Rights struggle led by one of Atlanta's most famous sons, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., there is a strong sense of history to be encountered at every turn in Georgia.
Welcome to Georgia, where there is truly something for everyone!
