The Brooks Street Inn is a wonderful combination of an elegant inn and a casual bed and breakfast.The Brooks Street Inn was designed as a private residence for local artist Rose Woodell who also used the house as a private art gallery. The house was built in traditional adobe manner-with bricks made right on the property. Horses were walked about in the pit of the house which was filled with water, hay and mud to create the clay necessary for the bricks.
Rose Woodell was married to the legendary author Frank Waters for three years while living in her Brooks Street home. During that period of time, Frank was working on his manuscript for the "Book of The Hopi" and while in the process of writing this wonderful book, would simply spread out his research materials on a redwood table that he placed in one of the rooms of the house.
