description of surrounding area:
Only 20 minutes to downtown, you can relax in quiet solitude far from city noises, right on the beach! Seals, sea otters, eagles, humming birds, mallards and Canadian Geese have all chosen this serene getaway - you'll be in good company. On rare occasions killer whales can be spotted from the shore, and once a curious grey whale ventured close. Just 10 minutes away, at Horseshoe Bay, charter boats depart daily on sport salmon fishing trips up Howe Sound, or on English Bay; a favorite of locals and visitors alike. To the east is Capilano Suspension Bridge, Stanley Park, Ambleside Park, and the Grouse Mountain with it's year-round mountain activities, restaurants and theatres. Just one mile to the west remains the primeval forest at Lighthouse Park. A quiet, inspiring walk through these towering forest giants is a lifetime experience not to be missed.
