description of surrounding area:
T his quiet corner of Maine's famous Mid Coast is just enough off the well-trodden path that you'll have the pleasure of discovering your own special hideaway. Your memories will be filled with lighthouse-crowned ocean points, islands in the bay, and authentic seaside villages where things haven't changed much in a long time. Yet when you're inclined to do the "must sees," it is only a short drive to such popular destinations as Boothbay Harbor, Camden, and Freeport.
J ust beyond the inn's lawn and gardens lies the Damariscotta River, a beautiful, unspoiled inlet that flows to the sea. Ospreys dive for fish here, and ducks glide on quiet waters. Lobster boats rest on their moorings, and there, across the water, stand the white steeples and brick storefronts of the village. It is peaceful here.
