Family run vacation lodging ideal for relaxing holidays by the beach in western Crete. Quality accommodation at unbeatable prices !!!Conveniently located on the edge of the historical sea side village of Maleme, Summer Lodge, an attractive, family run vacation lodging is a fine example of traditional Greek architecture. Only 5 Kms from the centre of Platanias and 16 Kms west of Hania town, is the ideal starting point for the visitors requiring a wide variety of sandy beaches, water sport activities, peaceful countryside walks, or interesting visits in archaeological and historical sites. Set around a pretty, flower filled courtyard and orange grove, our house has a total of 17 well furnished and nicely decorated rooms. They all have ensuite shower rooms, wc and wash hand basin and are equipped with fridge, cooling fan and safe box. Most of the rooms have private balconies or open terraces whilst others on the ground floor, that face onto the gardens, have a patio area and are particularly cool in the heat of the summer.|With the tremendous advantage of being no more than 400 meters by footpath to the long, quiet beach of Maleme, mostly sandy but also pebbly and a number of nearby tavernas as well as a supermarket, the situation couldn't be more convenient and car hire, although useful, is not essential.
The superb 10m x 5m pool is surrounded by sun terraces and is supplied with patio furniture and sun lounges.|Beyond the pool and shaded by feathery willow trees is a pretty terrace where breakfast is served any time you please and a small bar serving cool drinks in the hot summer evenings.

CHQ airport
During the summer season April to October there are more than thirty direct charter flights daily, connecting Crete with the rest of Europe. Please check on the Internet or with your local travel agent for prices and schedules. Additionally if you travel via Athens there are daily flights (duration 45 minutes) to ATH airport by www.olympic-airways.gr and www.aegeanair.gr
SOUDA port
There is daily an evening and an overnight ferry from Pireas-Athens (duration 6-9 hours) while on weekends and peak season there is in addition a daytime one. Ideal option if you wish to visit more Greek islands. Check www.greekferries.gr or www.ferries.gr for prices and schedules.
HANIA town
Also spelt as Chania, is the connection point whether you arrive by plane or boat. The bus station is in the center, where the taxi driver or the local bus will take you from the airport or harbor. Visit www.chania.gr for further information and useful tips.

Summer Lodge is located 16 kms west of Hania town by the old costal road and there is frequent bus service to the airports CHQ & HER as well as to the ports of Hania & Heraklion.
If you arrive to Crete at Hania airport (code CHQ) you can get a taxi to Hania town (drive costs about 12 EURO) then the local bus to Pirgos Psilonerou (last bus at 21:00). Ask which bus goes to Maleme and buy a ticket before getting on (single ticket costs about 2 EURO). A taxi fare from airport to Summer Lodge costs about 27 EURO.
If you arrive by ferry at Hania Port (Souda Bay) you can get the local bus (blue color) to Hania town and then the bus to Pirgos Psilonerou. A taxi fare from Souda Bay to Summer Lodge costs about 25 EURO.
From Heraklion port or airport (code HER) you can get a taxi to the town center (10 minutes drive) then the bus to Hania (single ticket costs about 12 EURO, last bus leaves at 20:00). A taxi fare from Heraklion to Summer Lodge costs about 95 EURO.
If you drive your own car, take the new road to Kissamos and take the second exit passed Hania. Look for the signs Platanias - Maleme.
