Perfect for a Vermont honeymoon or remantic weekend getaway, it is also ideal for family reunions, intimate weddings, or simply enjoying the fall foliage or sleigh rides in the scenic countryside. Charm and luxury abound inside this dist5inctive inn furnished with antiques, bedroom fireplaces, and a well-stocked library, but the Green Mountains will beckon offering skiing, hiking, dogsledding, snowshoeing, fly fishing, and glider rides to name a few. ADjacent to the bike trail along the scenic Lamoille River which doubles in winter as part of the VAST trail system, it's an easy stop while biking or by snowmobile.|Built by the governor in 1893 as a copy of the famous Longfellow House, it also had the latest gas lighting fixtures, a Vermont marble foyer, and made-to-order mirrored mantlepieces. For modern comfort, we've added in room high-speed internet, cable TV and VCR/DVD players and a fully handicapped accessible room with a private porch and garden. Many original details have survived the century and the house has been restored and decorated to preserve the gracious elegance of an earlier time.|So when you're ready for a very comfortable stay, come to the Governor's House in Hyde Park and back to a time when all the bread and cookies come straight from the oven and all the maple syrup comes straight from the tree.
