General Information

Conforming to the Dallas State-Thomas Historical District's exterior codes, this three-story modified prarie-style home built in 1997 is an interior visual surprise and delight. The Heritage Room, exquisitely decorated with antique queen-sized bed and accessories and corner windows offers a birds-eye view of the neighborhood The unique contemporary design of the bath features aluminum walls and vanity with antique black porcelain footed tub/shower (Sorry, we have no Jacuzzi tubs). The Heritage Room, sometimes referred to as Elke's Room and a favorite of our returning guests, is small but comfortable and charming.

Named The Marrakech Room, this room carries you back into an exotic place found only in your wildest or most romantic imaginations. The location at the end of a long hallway is especially remote, quiet and private for the business traveler seeking refuge or the honeymoon couple creating memories. It's silk, it's vibrant, it's cozy...it may be just for you. The spacious suite has a queen-sized bed, sitting area with sofa and TV and small view of downtown. The Marrakech Room is a few private steps to the bathroom where an old fashioned footed tub/shower awaits your pleasure, complete with soaking oils, beads, bubbles, foot scrubs, candles and more....All there for you and your evening of personal pampering.
Called The Austin Suite, located on the third floor, this large room has separate sitting area complete with sofa, table/desk and comfortable chairs. The king-size bed (or optional two twin beds) faces an impressive view of downtown. The Austin Suite, as its name implies, is decorated with textiles, art, leather, paint finishes and textures found in the Southwest and Mexico. The private bath, carved out of an attic space gleams with cobalt blue tile mixed with Mexican Saltillo. The shower is a work of art within itself, complete with words of wisdom. Habla español? And, although the exterior was designed to conform to the historic district requirements, the interior was designed by its owners to reflect their own personal tastes leaning toward what Pam calls "artsy-contemporary."

The maple hardwood flooring that withstood decades of pounding feet as a basketball court in the Weatherford College Gymnasium, now welcomes guests into the surrounding warmth and visual stimulation of the great room. It's urban. It's colorful. It's inviting. There's a surprise around every corner and on every wall. You're invited to experience the charm and delights of The Southern House Bed and Breakfast in Dallas.|Waffle with Strawberries, Bacon & Scrambled Eggs Encroute
Pam Southern's breakfasts alone are worth the night's stay. She began cooking as a six-year-old in West Texas and New Mexico, picking onions, peppers, and tomatoes out of the garden. And, although Pam and her cooking have become considerably more sophisticated over the years, her roots are still buried deep in the Southwest. She's full of stories, too, about her interesting rural upbringing and has had some of her memoirs accepted for publication.
