General Information

www.templeside.com Commercial? No. Probably the most elegant and historic Beijing Hutong (narrow alley) and Si He Yuan (four in one Chinese house) hostel, deeply hidden behind the noisy street, the little Templeside House hostel is quietly and calmly locaBeijing Youth Hostel. Probably the most special and original local hostel in Beijing, The hostel is so fantastic. It hides behind the street, deeply and quietly in a Hutong (historical narrow alley) and Si He Yuan (a kind of old style Chinese house), full of Beijng?s local taste. It impresses with its beautiful garden courtyard, super clean bathrooms, cheap private rooms, city center location, considerable service and brand new facilities. Of course, warm English speaking staff is more essential.
Living in this hostel can help you get a better understanding of Beijing?s local life. You could never get the same feeling and traveling experience from any other places. Wandering in the long and puzzling hutong, smiling to lovely local neighbors, seeing the blue sky in the no-roof courtyard, hearing the whistle from swiftly flying-by doves, watering the garden, walking the dog, the Templeside house gives you ?a glimpse of what life in the city is really like?.
The Templeside House Hostel has the best location in the city center of Beijing. It is less than 3 kilometers to all major sites of Beijing including Tian'anmen Square, Forbidden City, Hou Hai bar area and Xi Dan shopping centers. Over 20 routes of Buses and subway trains leave outside the hostel regularly to all areas. There are two old Buddhist temples around the hostel, in only 3 minutes walking distance. Most strikingly, the hostel offers a FREE TOUR of the temple and the Hutong as well.
The hostel?s cleanness is really great. All guests give it a high rating. The private and dorm are really spotless. It is so hard to find dust there. Especially the common bathrooms, the staff clean them nearly every an hour!
The hostel offers cheap rooms and free services to western and Chinese customers. The rate is from just about 7 US dollar for a bed. Living in such a lovely place with good cleanness, safety, believe it or not, this price is doubtlessly a bargain. Even more, the hostel has many more FREE services. For example, free internet service with your own laptop, free temple and hutong tour, free Chinese folk arts show, free satellite TV and DVD show, etc.
Living here, you could get more fun than a normal hostel. We tell u what things to do, where to go and where to eat from a local?s view. Beijing has not only the Great wall, the Emperor Palace, Buddhist temple, folk arts, traditional opera and acrobatics, but also it has pop music show, modern art gallery, crazy club, bar, and secret night life. We will show you all.
In one word, once you are here, you will be here again. Price for reference

The hostel’s location is close to the city’s important transportation center--- Xi Si crossing (Chinese pronunciation “Xi Si Lu Kou”). There are so many ways getting there from any other place, including bus, subway, taxi and walking. At Xi Si crossing, you can easily find Guang Ji Temple (Chinese pronunciation “Guang Ji Si”) by asking locals. Around 50 meters west to the temple gate, the second narrow alley named Liuhe (Chinese pronunciation “Liu He Hu Tong”). At the alley’s entrance, you can find a Q sign convenient store and a public toilet and many bus stops. Then, entering the alley and following the hostel sign, you can find us there, calmly and quietly waiting for you.
NB: If you really get lost, please call the hostel anytime anywhere and we will arrange a car to help you out. So, keep the map and phone number on hand.
    ? Route 1
Airport---shuttle bus Line 2---Xi Dan Aviation Building (shuttle bus terminal) ---taxi or bus No.22---Xi Si stop---Guang Ji Temple---LiuHe Hutong---hostel
From the airport, take shuttle bus Line 2 to the last stop, Xi Dan Aviation Building (shuttle bus terminal ). Get bus No 22 just in front of the Aviation Building and get off at Xi Si stop (should be the 4th Stop), go backward to the crossing and walk to the west about 100 meters along the street, pass the Guang Ji Temple, the second small alley which is named LiuHe Hutong.
If you take a taxi from Xidan Aviation Building to our hostel, the cost will be around RMB 10 Yuan.
    ? Route 2
Beijing Central Railway Station---subway to FuChengMen station---bus, taxi or walking--- XiSi stop ---LiuHe Hutong---hostel
From Beijing Central Railway Station, take the Subway and then get off at Fu-Cheng-Men Station, out of the exit B then turn left walking to the east along the Fu-Cheng-Men-Nei street. About 20 minutes walking to the east, you will find LiuHe Hutong first, then Guang Ji Temple second, then Xi Si Crossing finally. All those are very close within a 100-meter-distance.
Of course, you can also take a bus or a taxi (around 10 Yuan) from Fu-Cheng-Men Subway Station instead of 20 minutes walking to the hostel. Just tell the driver the destination is Xi Si stop or Guang Ji Temple. It is pretty fast and easy.
    ? Route 3
    Beijing Central Railway Station---bus No.808--- Xi Si stop---Guang Ji Temple---LiuHe Hutong---hostel
From the central railway station, you can also directly take the bus No 808 and get off at Xi Si stop(should be the 8th stop), then from the crossing, walk to the west about 100 meters along the street, pass the Guang Ji Temple and keep going 40 meters, then you will find LiuHe Hutong and get us.
    ? Route 4
    Beijing West Railway Station---bus No 823---Xi Si stop---Guang Ji Temple---LiuHe Hutong---hostel
From Beijing West Railway Station, take bus No 823 and get off at Xi Si stop(should be the 12th stop), cross the street to find Guang Ji Temple then you will find LiuHe Hutong and get us.
    ? Route 5
If you have got enough money, you can call a taxi from the airport or the railway station to the hostel. Just tell the driver you want to go to Xi Si crossing or Guang Ji Temple, it is easy but expensive. If you really want to do this, please be aware not to use the service desks in the lobby of the airport or trust those over-warm guys who offer you a ride because most of them are always ready to rip you off at more than 300 RMB by putting you onto their private car without taxi license. So please use licensed taxi for more reliable service. You can just wait in the queue and get one on the regular site in front of the building of the airport lobby.
Instead, the hostel offers a pick-up service for guests, it will charge RMB150 for its distance.
