    Innkeepers

  • innkeepers description: 7 years' ago we decided to give up the rat race for a more peaceful life away from England. Originally we lived in France running a successful and award winning gite complex, chambre d'hote and campsite. We stumbled across this spectacular hotel on the day it came to the open market and it seemed like fate! In the past we lived for our holidays, now our life revolves around making your holiday the best it can be!
  • innkeepers speak: English, German and French to varying degrees!!
  •
    Location

  • nearby features: Feldburg is the highest of the Black Forest mountains and the village of Menzenschwand sits in it's valley. A great ski resort in Winter and a wonderful place to view the Alps and walk in Summer. The lakes of Titisee and Schulchsee are minutes away.
  • nearest major city: The nearest city is Freiburg which, thanks to it's unique history has some amazing and unique architecture. This is a cosmopolitan, bustling and very friendly University City with it's own cable car!
  • nearest major airport: Choices, choices! You can fly to Strasbourg in France (allow a 2 hour transfer), Baden Baden in Germany (again a 2 hour transfer), Stuttgart (allow 3 hours), Basel (a little under 2 hours) or Freidrichshafen on the shores of Lake Constance. If you can tear yourself away from the Lake around a 2.5 hour transfer.
  • description of surrounding area: Menzenschwand is in the stunning southern Black Forest area of Germany, sitting right on the border with Switzerland and France. The nearest town is St Blasien, with it's magnificent domed church (the third largest dome in Europe) is about 7kms from Menzenschwand and has a full range of shops, restaurants and some very exclusive boutiques. The cosmopolitan and chic University city of Freiburg can be easily reached in little over 30 minutes by car or by bus or train. Basel is a similar distance. The area offers an amazing choice of things to see and do and if you get tired of the spectacular views framed by the Alps the vineyard draped rolling hills of the French region of Alsace are only an hour away!
