In 1790, the Georgian period dwelling at 401 South king Street was built. One of the oldest houses in Windsor, it has been occupied by some of the towns most famous families such as John Johnson, attorney-at-law, Elisha Rhodes, U.S. Consul to the Republic of Texas, William Henry, one of the first science fiction writers, and David Outlaw, a pro-unionist Congressman before the Civil War.
