Highest rated in the Maryland B&B Association for both 2002 & 2003 by customer evaluation. Best Food, Hospitality, Comfort and Cleanliness. Here you will enjoy our beautiful private rooms and complimentary multi-course breakfast each day. We are located in the center of Historic Sharpsburg, a town which has changed little since the Civil War. Built around 1800, by Capt. Joseph Chapline, Revolutionary War patriot, our Inn is a perfect example of Federal Period architecture. Surrounded by the Antietam Battlefield, the town was occupied by the South before the battle began and was subsequently shelled by the Union army. Many buildings still display these scars and were used as field hospitals to care for the wounded following the battle. The Inn is named for Jacob Rohrbach who lost his life defending the property against horse thieves claiming to be Mosby’s men on July 4th, 1864. While best known for the Battle of Antietam (Sept. 17, 1862), Sharpsburg also borders the C&O Canal National Park, and is the location of the Kennedy Farm, where John Brown prepared his raid on the nearby Harpers Ferry Arsenal. Within an hour's drive, scenic country roads lead you to Gettysburg, Berkeley Springs, Skyline Drive or the Shenandoah National Park Make the Jacob Rohrbach Inn your home away from home as you wander through the countryside and explore the Mid-Atlantic, knowing that at the end of the day you will be returning to a comfortable haven. Guest bicycle rental availale.
